La Mozza’s 2018 Maremma Toscana Rosso Aragone is a blend of 50% Sangiovese, 25% Syrah and 25% Alicante Bouschet. The wine hits the market with a few extra years of age. As a result, it delivers a balanced mix of primary tones, with dark cherry and plum, almond and some elegant tertiary tones of campfire ash and cured tobacco. It offers medium-weight texture and some mineral or iodine on the close. I expect this vintage to hold until the 10-year mark easily. Some 5,000 bottles were made.
