Cortonesi makes a very satisfying Rosso that drinks and performs above its weight class. The 2021 Rosso di Montalcino La Mannella (with 20,000 bottles released) shows a dark garnet color with medium-lean concentration. There is plenty of dark cherry and fresh fruit at its core. That center is framed by earthy notes of iris root and chestnut husk. All of those flavors conclude with pretty freshness.
